When Imposter Syndrome Crashes Your Big Launch
Writer sitting on a couch with a laptop and notebook surrounded by crumpled paper, symbolizing writer’s block and the struggle to start writing.
When I officially launched this space on social media last week, I’ll be honest, panic set in almost immediately. That sneaky voice of imposter syndrome showed up right on cue. You know that feeling of “uh oh, I put it out into the universe… now I actually have to deliver”? Yeah, that one. It was loud.
This happens to me every single time I launch something new, whether it’s a business idea, a creative project, or even this blog. Every. Single. Time. I freeze up. My brain goes quiet, my motivation disappears, and for a few days I just sit in a swirl of “What were you thinking?” and “Who do you think you are?”
But then, slowly, it passes. The panic softens, my creativity wakes back up, and I remember: you can do this, you have more ideas, you can keep going. Even as I write this, my stomach’s doing flips and I’m still a little antsy, but I’m starting to recognize that as part of the process when you’re chasing something that actually matters to you.
The funny thing is, on the flip side, things have always worked out. Every. Single. Time. Not perfectly, not without detours or doubts, but they work out in their own way. Sure, there are bumps and awkward moments along the way, but they always settle themselves. And what’s left is the reminder that showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable, is what keeps everything moving forward.
So, here we are, imperfectly starting again together. Thank you for being here for it, for reading, and for supporting this new chapter. It means more than you know.
If you’ve ever battled imposter syndrome while launching your own creative project, business, or blog, I’d love to hear how you pushed through. Share your story in the comments or send me a message. We can ride out the butterflies together and remind each other we’re not alone.
Thanks again for being here and for walking through this beautifully unscheduled chapter with me.
From My Kitchen This Week - Who Doesn't Love a Hostess Cupcake?
Here’s a recipe I’m really enjoying right now. When I was a kid, I loved Hostess Cupcakes. They were an occasional treat at our house, and whenever my mom brought them home, it felt like the best day ever.
Fast forward to today: because I have Celiac Disease, I eat strictly gluten-free, and it’s been 17 years since I’ve had one of those cupcakes. So you can imagine my delight when one of my favorite gluten-free bakers, Meaningful Eats, shared a celiac-safe version. I first came across the recipe while I was in New Zealand about a month ago and baked a batch as soon as we got home.
It’s definitely a recipe with a few steps, and things got a little messy in my kitchen (marshmallow cream in my hair, powdered sugar everywhere messy). But every bit of it was worth it when I took the first bite.
Maybe my palate has grown up a bit over the years, but honestly? I think this homemade gluten-free version might be even better than the original.
Here’s the recipe. Happy Baking!
P.S. If you’re not gluten free, substitute regular flour and let me know how it goes.
